Job Description
As an Apprentice Structural Assembler, you will report to the Production Supervisor and be responsible for installing and assembling components on aircraft structures. This role requires proficiency in blueprint reading, hole layout, countersinking, and deburring. You will be involved in fitting and installing conventional rivets and Hi-Lite fasteners, assembling and fitting pre-fabricated parts to form subassemblies, and working with a variety of power and hand tools. Your work will directly contribute to meeting schedule and production requirements.
ResponsibilitiesInstall and assemble components on aircraft structures.Read and interpret blueprints for hole layout and component assembly.Perform countersinking and deburring processes.Fit and install conventional rivets and Hi-Lite fasteners.Assemble and fit pre-fabricated parts to form subassemblies.Apply manual solvent, conductive chemical conversion treatment, and paint touch-up.Utilize power and hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment.Meet schedule and production requirements.Work as part of a team and be flexible to learn new tasks.Adapt to rotating shifts to accommodate production schedule, including days, afternoons, nights, and overtime as required.Use pneumatic or power hand tools effectively.Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times on the plant floor and adhere to Health & Safety procedures.Pass a Pulmonary Fit Test (PFT) for proper fitting of respirators as needed.Remain clean shaven to ensure proper fitting of respirators according to Canadian Standards.Work in restricted spaces or at heights as required.Perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods during shifts.Essential SkillsProficiency in blueprint reading and hole layout.Skill in countersinking and deburring.Experience in riveting and installation of fasteners.3+ years of experience in aircraft structural assembly.Ability to perform drilling, countersinking, torqueing, and installation as per blueprint specifications.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompletion of a metal fabrication course, aerospace structures course, or aeronautical technology education.Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand and power tools.Ability to work rotating shifts as required.Why Work Here?
