As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, you assist us in achieving this goal by developing strength and conditioning programming for Walsh University athletes. In this role, you will provide beneficial exercise instruction, activities and services, teaching participants how to take an active role in their own care. You will be beneficial in ensuring athlete health, safety and peak performance throughout the school year. All the while, you can continue enhancing your own skills within a supportive healthcare environment, explore advanced career opportunities and more.  

 

A caregiver in this position works varying 8-hour shifts from 6:00AM – 7:00PM. Shifts will vary based on when athletes are in the weight room. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

Participate in planning, developing and implementing in-house and/or off-site strength and conditioning programs. 

Create appropriate strength and speed/agility programing for groups, high school teams and/or individuals. 

Quickly and appropriately adapt training programs to different skill levels, injuries and/or facility. 

Communicate effectively with clients and other staff (ATC, PT, Strength Coaches, Sport Coaches) regarding programing, education, scheduling and training safety. 

Collaborate and build relationships with staff from other departments to effectively deliver strength and conditioning services. 

Interact and develop relationships with local schools, sports organizations/teams and the community to promote strength and conditioning services. 

Communicate effectively with the supervisor regarding program/department needs, innovations and operations to assist program growth and success. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or a related field 

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) OR personal training or strength and conditioning certifications with other reputable organizations in conjunction with demonstrated expertise, experience and proficiency in strength and conditioning coaching 

Experience within a Strength and Conditioning environment at a high school, college or fitness facility 

Group training experience at the youth and adult level 

Strong knowledge of safe programming principles and exercise progression from youth or beginner/advanced athletes

Physical requirements: 

Requires full body motion including handling and lifting up to 75 pounds.Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.May be required to drive to other locations.
