Strategy Lead, Shared Services (12 months short term assignment) - Group Chief Operating Officer

Operations Shared Services (OSS) drives operations' performance standards, service excellence, and consistency across the Group and our Global Service Centres (GSCs). This central team oversees areas such as business intelligence, cost management, reporting, billing and regulatory compliance. In addition, through its GSC Capabilities team, they are responsible for enterprise-wide workforce management, location strategy, future skills, and group common services (AI, automation, and other strategic initiatives).

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Strategy Lead, Shared Services (12 months short term assignment).

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

Own the end-to-end process for executive reporting, including: drafting clear, insightful presentations and papers materials for the Shared Services ExCo, Group OpCo, Board Leadership forums monitoring programme progress and highlighting key strategic risks and decisions and ensuring alignment with Group Strategy

Support the development and delivery of the Shared Services strategy, aligned with the Bank’s growth ambitions and operational transformation agenda

Lead strategic discovery and design projects focused on simplifying, digitising, and automating key operational journeys

Develop and maintain a scenario modelling capability to support long-term strategic planning, cost optimisation, and resource management

Utilise internal and external benchmarking, market intelligence, and business insights to continuously refine the location strategy

Lead reporting on progress, impact, and risks to ExCo and senior forums

Provide a clear voice and structure in forums with divergent views, balancing short-term tactical delivery with long-term strategic aims

Articulate or translate complex information in a clear, meaningful and structured way to suit audience

To be successful you will need

Experienced strategy consultant or experience from an in-house strategy / chief of staff role (or similar)

Graduate level education, preferably a Master in Finance / Banking / Economics or similar

Strong financial understanding and modelling skills

Understanding of operational banking processes. Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing with senior stakeholders

Analytical reasoning and excellent problem-solving ability in complex ambiguous situations

Experienced in managing resources. Experienced in working with and senior bank executives (GB/GF CEOs/COO/CIOs)

Experienced in delivering board and executive level materials (presentations and papers)

Familiarity with operational transformation, shared services models, and workforce planning. Excellent MS Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
