Job SummaryThe Strategic Sourcing Director is a member of the Sourcing leadership team. This position is responsible for transformation and project execution on enterprise-level initiatives that focus on value enhancement, process improvement, and technology enablement. This role will also have responsibility for effectively planning, organizing, and indirect management of professional staff in pursuit of both successful project execution and cost-effective and quality acquisition of materials, equipment and services to support business units.
Broad areas of responsibility include:
Develops category strategies and goals in support of business unit and corporate strategies.
Directs, manages and coordinates category management and/or sourcing functions to ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and customer requirements.
Maintains effective working relationships and manages issues with internal customers and external suppliers
Ensures compliance with all applicable company policies, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
Demonstrates and implements procedures and programs to govern purchasing services provided to business units
Develops and implements Supply Chain strategy and transformational initiatives
ResponsibilitiesDevelops category strategies and goals in support of business unit and corporate strategies
Directs the cost-effective and quality acquisition/life cycle management of materials, equipment, services and spare parts within area of expertise to support the operations and activities
Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with internal customers and external suppliers
Manage enterprise-level Supply Chain initiatives or represent Supply Chain in such initiatives
Identifies areas for improvement through benchmarking and market analysis
Transforms market and operational insights into actionable Supply Chain strategy and transformational initiatives
Basic / Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required and at least 5 years of Supply Chain experience
Desired QualificationsMaster's degree
Strong working knowledge of business unit operations
Ability/confidence to effectively present and interact with Senior Company Executives
Good project management experience
Strong understanding of procurement program and purchasing policies
Good understanding of inventory issues
Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, procedures, and other regulatory requirements and guidelines.

Working ConditionsNormal office environment with some travel to sites, supplier facilities and industry meetings.
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
