Position Purpose:
Under the direction of and reporting to the Department Leader, the Stock Handler follows procedures and instructions to physically transfers materials between processes or areas, maintaining accurate inventory and traceability records. Material Handling activities include (but are not limited to) receiving, basic visual inspection, stocking, returns, picking, counting, weighing, packaging, kitting, issuing, delivering and cycle counting. Works with minimal general supervision.
Essential Functions:
Physically transfers material from one process to another. Picks material from racks, trays and shelves, and prepares them for assembly, sub-assembly, spare part orders or other subsequent processes. Performs various inventory transactions to move, stock, pick, return to stock inventory, adjust inventory, etc.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as verifying or filling out paperwork, inputting or providing data, maintaining inventory accuracy, etc., completing paperwork, and data entry or reporting.
Performs a variety of organizational functions such as counting, weighing packaging etc. according to SOP to prepare materials for subsequent processes.
Identifies quality/process improvements.
Coordinates and prioritizes materials and item movements from receiving and product drop off areas, sorts and stores on racks, trays and shelves in a predetermined order, i.e. stocking parts and identifies potential issues.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to stock or marks information on containers.
Maintains accurate inventory quantity and traceability on inventory items by using site ERP system.
,Counts inventory for cycle counting purposes, open/closes cycle count batches and trouble shoots discrepancies.
Other Essential Functions:
Identifies non-conformance and stock discrepancies and records for dispositioning and traceability.
Promotes teamwork and cooperative efforts.
Understands tool and gage management systems as applicable per location.
May be required to run simple motorized equipment to perform functions (e.g. band saw, chemical etching, vibro engraving)
May be required to be certified and operate powered material handling equipment (e.g. forklift truck, motorized pallet handler, crane)
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Solid reading, writing and math skills.
Ability to manage tasks, interruptions and meet deadlines as required.
Solid knowledge of ERP systems (WISE/SAP)
Good ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Solid understanding of PC's including e-mail.
Solid knowledge of the calibration process as applicable per location.
Good communication Skills.
Knowledge of tools used to support continual improvement (Six Sigma) and operational effectiveness. Basic understanding of Woodward Lean Enterprise System (WLES) processes.
Ability to use historical stock records to troubleshoot discrepancies.
Education:
US – High School Diploma
Experience:
1-2 years related work experience.
