A Certified Sterile Technician maintains proper infection control procedures by cleaning, inspecting, assembling, wrapping and sterilizing all reusable items at ProMedica.
You will make sure aseptic procedures are followed and comply with appropriate policies while performing Central Sterile duties. In this role, you will manage OR stock and supplies, monitor PAR levels and order supplies as needed.
This position also will help nursing staff with patient admissions, transfers, discharges and transportation.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Cleans, checks, assembles, wraps, and sterilizes all reusable items. Cleans Autoclaves weekly. Uses aseptic procedures and complies with appropriate policies in performing Central Sterile (CS) duties. Runs and maintains the Steris System. Handles contaminated items using proper infection control procedures. Maintains OR stock and supplies. Checks PAR levels, and orders appropriately. Generates orders for special order items as directed by Charge Nurse or Unit Director. Performs routine clerical functions related to supplies. Assists nursing personnel with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Transports patients using appropriate safety measures. Recognizes and prioritizes assignments appropriately. Maintains daily quality control records. Assists with transportation and handling of surgical specimens. Performs all related duties as requested or required. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Skills: Maintain CPR-American Heart Association Heart Saver AED.
