Decontaminatesand sterilizesinstruments, medical suppliesandequipment, andassembles,wrapsand sterilizes trays of instruments.Follows proper standard precautions whilein decontamination and sterilizationareas. 2. Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. 3. Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner. 4. Restocks, labels, and maintainsinventory, submits requisitions,collects anddistributes instruments, trays,crashcarts,andfacilitymedical equipment. 5. Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas. 6. Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards. 8. Performs other related duties as required and directed. **Qualifications:** _Required:_ + High school diploma or equivalent. + Completion of approved sterile processing course. * Certification required within one year from hire as certified by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a technician. _Preferred:_ + Prior experience in sterile processing preferred. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** 1. Demonstrates expertise in sterile service operations; including the ability to operate all processing equipment, perform required sterilization verification tests and maintain accurate records. 2. Demonstrates understanding and practice of aseptic technique, decontamination, processing and sterilization techniques, inventory and distribution, infection control and quality assurance as it relates to sterile processing services.
