Position Overview

QinetiQ US seeks a skilled Mid-Level Statistician to support a federal law enforcement agency client operations. This role is responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets related to the agency, providing statistical insights, and driving data-informed decision-making processes that support the Law Enforcement Lifecycle.

Your expertise in statistical analysis, data management, and reporting will be instrumental in optimizing agency operations, identifying trends in law enforcement data, and supporting strategic initiatives. You will work closely with federal stakeholders to ensure data quality, develop performance metrics, and provide actionable insights for policy formulation and operational planning.

 

 

Responsibilities

Statistical Analysis & Data Interpretation

Collect, analyze, and interpret large and complex agency data sets from various law enforcement systems and sourcesApply statistical techniques, data mining, and predictive modeling to extract meaningful insights from law enforcement dataIdentify patterns, correlations, and relationships within agency data to inform strategic decisions and policy formulationSupport development and validation of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models for Law Enforcement operationsConduct statistical validation of agency decision support tools and forecasting methodologiesAssist in the professional and technical development of fellow staff

Data Quality & Integrity Support

Support agency staff in identifying potential agency data quality issues and develop statistical methods to resolve themPerform statistical analysis to evaluate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across agency systemsDevelop and implement statistical quality assurance processes for data validationSupport audits of agency Dashboards to ensure statistical accuracy and data integrityApply statistical methods to identify and address historical data errors and anomalies

Reporting & Visualization

Develop and generate statistical reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights to agency leadership and federal stakeholdersCreate executive-level statistical summaries and briefings for agency decision-makersPresent statistical findings in clear, actionable formats tailored to various audiencesSupport documentation of statistical methodologies in Confluence and other platformsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure statistical reports meet federal requirements

Performance Measurement & KPI Development

Design and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure agency operational performanceApply statistical methods to establish benchmarks and targets for immigration enforcement metricsConduct statistical analysis of performance trends and identify areas for operational improvementSupport streamlined reporting on key performance indicators across agency enterpriseValidate statistical accuracy of performance dashboards and reporting tools

Advanced Statistical Analysis

Support predictive analytics and modeling initiatives for agency resource allocation and planningApply advanced statistical techniques including regression analysis, time series analysis, and multivariate statisticsUtilize statistical programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL for complex data analysisSupport geospatial statistical analysis for law enforcement operationsAssist in developing statistical models for logistics optimization and decision support

Data Management & Automation

Create statistical tools and automated processes using SQL, Python, R, and other platformsSupport development of data pipelines ensuring statistical validity and accuracyImplement statistical data cleaning, transformation, and validation processesSupport extract, transform, load (ETL) operations with statistical quality checksCollaborate with agency staff on statistical automation tools and data quality monitoring

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with federal staff to understand analytical requirementsSupport analytics and reporting requirements meetings with statistical expertiseProvide statistical consultation and guidance to agency stakeholdersSupport training activities on statistical concepts and data interpretationServe as statistical subject matter expert for cross-unit collaboration Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or related quantitative field3+ years of experience in statistical analysis, preferably in federal or law enforcement environmentsExperience with government data systems and federal reporting requirements preferred

Technical Skills

Strong expertise in statistical analysis techniques, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testingProficiency in statistical programming languages including R, Python, and SQLExperience with statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, or similar applicationsFamiliarity with data visualization tools including Tableau, Power BI, or similar platformsUnderstanding of database management principles and data quality assurance methodsExperience with statistical validation and quality control processes

Analytical Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex statistical findings into actionable insightsExperience with predictive modeling, time series analysis, and multivariate statistical techniquesUnderstanding of experimental design and statistical inference principlesAbility to conduct statistical audits and data validation processesExperience with performance measurement and statistical benchmarking

Communication & Collaboration

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting statistical concepts to technical and non-technical audiencesProven ability to work with cross-functional teams and federal stakeholdersExperience creating statistical documentation and training materialsAbility to manage multiple statistical projects and priorities simultaneouslyStrong attention to detail with focus on statistical accuracy and reliabilitySecurity RequirementsAbility to obtain and maintain appropriate federal security clearance.Background investigation required.Must be U.S. citizen. Preferred Qualifications

Specialized Experience

Experience supporting federal law enforcement or homeland security agenciesBackground in law enforcement, border security, or related law enforcement domainsExperience with DHS systems and law enforcement operational dataKnowledge of federal data governance and compliance requirements

Advanced Technical Skills

Experience with advanced statistical techniques such as machine learning, Bayesian analysis, or spatial statisticsFamiliarity with Databricks, Oracle (OBIEE/OAS), and UiPath automation toolsExperience with geospatial analysis and ArcGIS statistical toolsKnowledge of data mining techniques and big data analyticsExperience with cloud-based statistical computing platforms

Professional Development
