Statistical Programmer I - Boyer Research Program

As a Statistical Programmer for the Boyer Research Program, you will collaborate with investigators, biostatisticians, and project teams to support data collection, database development, data management, programming, and statistical analysis. You will design and implement standard and customized programs for data analysis and visualization using tools such as SAS, R, S-PLUS, and Stata, while developing and maintaining code for emerging statistical techniques. This role requires the ability to work across multiple projects and apply foundational knowledge in biostatistics, epidemiology, and research data management. Read more about the Boyer Research Program: https://www.lerner.ccf.org/quantitative-health/boyer/ **A caregiver in this role works days from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Work effectively as part of a project team (which may include an investigator, biostatistician and programmer) providing expertise related to data collection, database development, data management, programming, statistical analysis and presentation of data. + Design and apply standard computer programs for statistical data collection, analysis, evaluation and graphical presentation. + Create customized computer programs for general use and specific projects utilizing statistical applications (e.g. SAS, R/ S-PLUS, Stata) in a PC and/or mainframe environment. + Develop and maintain code for emerging statistical techniques in one or more of these languages. + Demonstrate ability in areas of biostatistics, epidemiology and general research and/or database management while working on several projects, or several aspects of one project. + Conduct data management. + Assemble data from multiple sources, resolve data problems and perform general data management tasks, including data integrity checks, query reports, and case selections using data control, definition and manipulations with considerable supervision and/or mentoring. + Demonstrate nominal ability to work with data from multiple platforms. + Begin to understand the statistical analysis implications of case report forms design and database design. + Develop, write, document and test basic statistical programs given the parameters and/or someone's sample code. + Review, receive and cross-check code from a more senior individual. + Demonstrate basic ability to interpret biostatistics, epidemiological or general research results with considerable supervision and/or mentoring. + Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to other team members. + Review and revise data from outside communications. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Masters in computer science, statistics, epidemiology, or related field. + **OR** BS in related field with three to five years of experience + Ability in data management and to draft basic statistical programs + Experience in the use of standard statistical packages + Knowledge of SAS or S-PLUS/R + Understanding of basic medical terminology + Ability to interpret biostatistics, epidemiological or general research results + Organization and time management skills + Fluent in English, sound writing skills, and ability to clearly communicate information both orally and in writing Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Knowledge of SQL, Oracle or other relational databases + Prior experience in a health care research environment **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. + Ability to travel throughout the hospital system. + Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum Annual Salary: $57,510.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $87,697.50 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
