Job Title State/Local Tax Accountant I Agency Texas A&M University Department UAS University Accounting Services Proposed Minimum Salary $4,000.00 monthly Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Financial Accountant I is responsible for state and local income tax reporting, for shared service members. Essential Duties/Tasks: State and Local Income Tax Reporting + Ensures compliance with State/Local tax regulations for shared service members. + Submit State and Local withholding payments, return filings, and annual reconciliations. + Ensure accurate follow-through on all adjustments to maintain correct filings and payments + Conduct regular audits on pay records for state/local income tax to verify proper tax deductions and implement necessary corrections to employee pay State and Local Income Tax Compliance Management + Ensure compliance with State/Local tax regulations for TAMU and twelve TAMUS members through routine audits of employee home and work locations + Stay current with changing tax laws and regulations to maintain organizational compliance Customer Service and Support + Responds to customer’s questions concerning State/Local tax inquiries. Additional Responsibilities + Perform other duties as assigned by management + Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the tax department What you need to know Salary: $48,000 annually Special Instructions: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Preferred Qualifications + Experience in Higher Education or Payroll Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. + Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills in an increasingly complex environment. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Ability to work independently when necessary. + Ability to analyze activities and recommend process/internal control improvements. + Ability to provide outstanding customer service. + Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations and analyze and improve internal controls. + Strong oral and written communication skills, complemented by excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities in complex environments.
