Job Summary

The Standardized Patient (SP) PRN consistently and accurately portrays a medical condition or disease. This includes the patient's history, physical findings, personality, and behavior in a non-punitive learning environment. SPs act as a patient, teacher, and evaluator. They offer learners a chance to practice repeatedly in a safe, controlled, and realistic atmosphere with nonjudgmental feedback.

Essential Functions of the Role

Delivers accurately memorized case details in the predetermined mannerEvaluates learners on professionalism, physical examination, and communication skills in both formative and summative environments, including high-stakes examinations.Portrays realistic affects consistent with case specificationsFacilitates debriefs and provides collaborative verbal feedback to learnersMaintains professionalism and effective communication and interpersonal skills, while demonstrating flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignmentsParticipates in advanced learning workshops and training sessionsPerforms other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.

Key Success Factors

Knowledge of SP terminology, and skills and practices pertinent to an SP.Ability to use virtual applications such as Zoom or Teams, communicate via email, complete forms and evaluations in various applications.

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED EquivalentEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
