The Staff Test Engineer reports to Technical Leadership and whose focus is performing design and support of high complexity test systems and equipment, mentoring to other Engineers and driving process improvements. This position works under a low level of supervision with a high level of independent work. The Staff Test Engineer provides awareness and understanding of overall project portfolio, interactions and issues. In addition, this position may participate in project-specific relationship building with Customers, Suppliers, individuals or organizations.
What you will be doing…
Project Management: Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of major projects, guiding technical direction for Engineers (levels 1-3) and leading small teams.
Research & Development: Conducts complex research, developing innovative techniques and procedures for improved processes.
Design & Testing: Designs, supports, and tests high-complexity systems, ensuring manufacturability, testability, and reliability criteria are met.
Process Improvement: Promotes and implements process improvements, defining and evaluating engineering processes and procedures.
Technical Expertise: Provides expert guidance in electronics, software, and mechanical engineering, offering knowledge in design, manufacturing processes, and vendor selection.
Documentation & Training: Develops detailed documentation, user manuals, and training materials while mentoring engineers and technicians.
Problem-Solving: Troubleshoots complex system problems and provides technical solutions using advanced engineering knowledge.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works with cross-functional teams, engages with customers, and participates in international/multi-site projects.
Advanced Tools & Analysis: Expert in software, modeling, and design tools, as well as ERP/MRP and document management systems.
Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrates expertise in physical systems, testing requirements, instrumentation calibration, and manufacturing processes.
Software Development: Develops, validates, and documents software for test systems including backend programming and automation
What we are looking for…
Education:
US – Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) - required
US – Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) - preferred
Experience:
Greater than 8 years professional engineering experience or a combination of experience and
advanced degree
License & Certifications:
Six Sigma Greenbelt training
Professional certifications
