Company:Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.Job Area:Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Modem Technologies Software
General Summary:
This individual leads, plans, synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements and performs the complex responsibility of leveraging advanced Modem knowledge to design, implement, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless WAN (or cellular) modem air interface RAN technologies software by working on Modem access stratum and RF SW design, optimizations & algorithms, and with the RFFE team to define the modem IP architecture, RFFE design, HW APIs, core systems algorithms, and HW/SW/co-processor architecture. Works on critical transceiver, HW control, and wireless Radio Access Stratum software implementation of a multi-RAT (Radio Access Technology) from industry specifications (most notably 3GPP with LTE and 5GNR). Leverages advanced knowledge of RF and/or WWAN L1/L2/L3 specifications and efficiently implements the shared resources of a multi-mode modem. Develops models, code, and/or simulations and weighs tradeoff against loosely defined requirements. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop a cost effective, high quality, and high capability modem IP that meets industry and customer requirements with high performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost (e.g., silicon area, calibration complexity, code size). Works primarily on transceiver, HW control and software implementation of mmWave (millimeter waves) technology from 3GPP industry specifications in 5G wireless Radio Access Technology. Leads and develops automation test framework in RF SW team to verify functionality and performance of design for various modules in RFFE. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze mmWave performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) big data to improve the product for customer experience. Acts as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings and communicates and implements a development plan.
