Staff Software Engineer - Data Delivery
Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX three times per week, at minimum.

The Role
The Data Delivery team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a strong track record in building large-scale data streaming platforms. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining systems that support high-throughput data streams, data curation, storage and file system architectures, data security and governance, as well as real-time inferencing and AI-driven algorithms.

What You’ll DoDesign and develop a scalable data platform to support growing data volume and complexity.Build robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and curate large datasets using Java, Apache Flink, and related technologies.Maintain and enhance infrastructure for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.Implement rigorous data validation, governance, and quality assurance to ensure data integrity.Mentor and support junior engineers through guidance, coaching, and learning opportunities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related fieldExtensive hands-on experience with Java, Kafka, Pulsar, Apache Flink, and similar technologiesDeep expertise in databases, including advanced SQL and NoSQL (e.g., Postgres, Cosmos)Proven experience with cloud platforms, with strong proficiency in at least one (Microsoft Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also valuable)Track record of building distributed, data-processing microservices and scalable, high-quality data products10+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languagesStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues quickly and thoroughlySkilled at identifying opportunities for automation and implementing effective solutionsSolid understanding of networking and distributed computing conceptsHighly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentGood understanding and experience with CI/CD practices.

A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.

Compensation: 

The expected base compensation for this role is: $165,000- $270,900. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance. Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
