Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. We are seeking an experienced and independent **Staff** **Software Engineer** to join our Hematology Division, supporting the development and maintenance of advanced blood testing instruments. This role is critical to both new product development and the resolution of escalated technical issues. You will work in a dynamic, high-volume environment alongside a small, collaborative team split into Front-End and Data Processing sub-teams. **What You’ll Work On** + Supports hematology instruments used in blood testing and analysis. + Two sub-teams:Front-End Engineering (FSE)andData Processing. + High interdependency and collaboration; flexibility and coordination are essential. + Fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with high expectations for quality and responsiveness. + Ideal forseasoned, independent engineerswho thrive in dynamic settings + Participate innew developmentof software for hematology instruments. + Investigate and resolve **escalated product complaints** . + Design and implement **software changes and enhancements** . + Conduct **testing on actual instruments** to validate functionality. + Perform **formal code reviews** and ensure adherence to quality standards. + Write and execute **development-level tests** for new and modified code. + Execute **high-paced validation and verification** activities. + Address **non-conformances** and support **final release** processes. + Collaborate with management on **quality and compliance** aspects. + Focus on **C++ coding** , debugging, and validation in a regulated environment. + May conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable. + Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion. + May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects. + This is a non-supervisory position. **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degreein Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. + Minimum 5 years of professional experiencein software development, preferably in medical devices or regulated industries. + Proficiency inC++and experience with embedded systems or instrument control. + Strong understanding ofsoftware validation,code reviews, andquality assurancepractices. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience in themedical device industryor other regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485). + Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment. + Familiarity withinstrumentation,data processing, orfront-end engineering. + Knowledge ofsoftware lifecycle processesandrisk management. + Able to work variable hours. + Ability to work on site. **Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:** www.abbottbenefits.com (http://www.abbottbenefits.com/pages/candidate.aspx) Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
