About the Role:

Matterport is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team.  You’ll be building features and services for the Matterport Platform, which acts as the glue and entry point for all other Matterport products and services.  We handle billions of requests each month, so you must be familiar with building services at scale.  The ideal candidate for this role will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to pivot when needed and have exceptional personal drive.  You should be comfortable working in an API-heavy, microservices environment.

This position is located in Irvine, CA and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in the office and the option to work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, implementation and deployment of new features and servicesBuild features and services using Kotlin, Python and front-end technologiesBuild APIs, backend services and integrations that support our productsWork with relational and non-relational data storesWork with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers and QAEnsure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environmentsBe an advocate for good engineering practicesContribute to a learning cultureMentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited, not for profit university or college8+ years of development experience, designing and delivering features and services in a cloud environmentExperience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages, such as Java and/or Server-side KotlinExperience with microservices such as Docker and KubernetesExperience with messaging frameworks, such as RabbitMQ and KafkaExperience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQLStrong problem-solving and debugging skills in all areas of platform developmentA solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well-documented codeAbility to work well in an agile environmentTrack record of commitment to prior employers

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to or familiarity with Microsoft stack technologies including C#, .NET core, MySQL, etc.Familiarity with PythonFamiliarity with ElasticsearchExperience with Autodesk Revit or other building information modeling softwareExposure to non-relational data stores such as FoundationDBFamiliarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular

This position offers an annual salary range from $144,000 - $232,000 determined by relevant skills and experience, in addition to a generous benefits plan.
