Staff R&D Test Engineer, Electrical (Onsite San Jose, CA))
**What You Will Do** You will be joining Stryker Endoscopy’s R&D Test team. We partner closely with Design and Systems to experiment with early prototypes and vet out product designs throughout the product development process. We get to be the Mythbusters of new product development. Just like the show, we quickly design and build fixtures to simulate real life situations. This experimentation is mission critical to find issues when we can best solve them and prevent them from impacting our customers and patients. You will directly be making healthcare better. As a **Staff R&D Test Engineer, Electrical,** we’ll need you to consider data integrity, reliability, durability, power consumption, interconnectivity, repeatability, and a large variety of global, clinical use cases. You will partner closely with other test specialties to holistically test products and target functionality that is multifactored. In addition to this hands-on experimentation and test engineering, you will also be responsible for all design verification on a product or system of products: from creating initial test plans through documenting results in test reports. Leadership, communication, and coordination are essential skills as you will coordinate samples, test execution, test results, and timelines with a cross-functional project team. As we continue to evolve our function and our products, we embrace the spirit of continuous improvement. You will be expected to advance existing test methods as well as develop new methods for new technologies and functionalities. Additional leadership responsibilities may include mentoring or managing an intern(s), specialist(s), or other test engineer(s). In addition to your project team and the Embedded/Electrical Test Team, you will be a part of Endoscopy’s R&D Test team. We are a diverse, close-knit team of engineers, specialists, and managers. Individual’s experience ranges from <1 year to 40+ with technical specialties including mechanical, electrical, software, and optics. We are also a global team: spanning sites near Dallas, TX, San Francisco Bay Area, Vancouver, BC, and both Bengaluru & Gurgaon, India. If this sounds like you and you have the magic ability to break things – we want you! **What You Need (Required Qualifications)** + Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering with at least 4 years of related experience, or equivalent. + Development, execution, and documentation of component and system level testing for design verification, identifying defects/inconsistencies, and assess product performance. + Debugging, troubleshooting, and completing failure analysis investigations supported by statistical analysis. + Usage of common electrical test methods, test equipment, and relevant standards. + Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. + Exhibit integrity, initiative, dependability, and independence. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s degree (M.S.) in Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering. + Test engineering experience in medical device or other regulated industry including design controls and QMS knowledge. + Video and high-speed communication product development experience and familiarity with associated protocols. + Automation experience: preferably LabView & NI, Python, and/or Arduino. + Experience successfully leading a team. + Ability to build collaborative relationships quickly. + Strong technical writing and presentation skills. $87,600 - $186,700 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
