Position Summary:

As a Staff Engineer in our R&D team, you will lead the design and development of innovative solutions for Orthopaedic and Trauma applications, with a strong focus on New Product Development (NPD). You’ll drive technical excellence across projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products that improve patient outcomes.

What you will do:

Independently design and implement complex concepts and systems including system architectural design, relevant design documentation, test planning and executionSpecialize in various technology domains and evaluate new technologiesEstablish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in order to recognize and anticipate industry trends and user needs.Drive designs and the selection of platform technologiesWork independently with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals, drive design decisions and incorporate feedback into designsEnsure compliance with the relevant requirements in cooperation with other engineering disciplines, QA/RA/AO, etc.Train and mentor regarding established engineering best practices, design principles, processes and toolsPerform holistic problem analysisDesign and implement solutions to address identified problems•Coordinate/manage the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies

What you will need:

Bachelor's degree in a science, Prefer Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering. Prefer Masters Degree in a technical discipline.4+ years of product design experience in Orthopaedics in the medical device industry or equivalentDemonstrated leadership of technical work groupsExperience in the function, clinical issues and performance requirements of orthopaedic implants is desirableExperience leading complex product development initiatives from concept through releaseExperience in design controls and risk management within a regulated industryExperience with a parametric CAD design package. Prefer ProEExperience with biomechanics, numerical simulations and/or manufacturing processesDemonstrated understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and its application•Demonstrated ability to mentor and educate individuals or small groups as well as multiple project teams to ensure that best design practices and standards are met
