Key job responsibilities
Please note that specific responsibilities may vary by position and location. The following list
represents potential duties that may be required:
● Maintain comprehensive customer profiles including current and past medical history, clinical
and laboratory data, and concurrent medications (including over-the-counter and home
remedies)
● Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential
interactions, and route of administration. Make recommendations for therapy changes to the
prescriber as appropriate
● Operate and Troubleshoot Pharmacy Automation Systems
• Utilize, monitor, and troubleshoot automated dispensing and fulfillment systems to
ensure accurate, efficient, and timely preparation of prescription orders
• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and engineering teams to resolve automation
issues, optimize workflows, and maintain compliance with quality and safety standards
● Dispense Controlled Substances and Maintain Regulatory Compliance
• Accurately dispense controlled substances in accordance with DEA regulations and
state-specific laws
• Maintain thorough, timely, and auditable records of all controlled substance
transactions, including inventory management, reconciliation, and reporting
requirements
● Provide Clinical Support:
• Answer clinical questions and provide guidance
• Collaborate with healthcare team members
• Document all healthcare team communications
• Investigate and resolve medication errors
● Additional Responsibilities:
• Implement policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws
• Maintain required regulatory documentation
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
• Support pharmacy operations across departments as needed
• Physical requirements may include ability to perform warehouse work and lift at least
20 pounds
