Staff Mechanical Analysis Engineer

Responsibilities Perform structural and thermal CAE analyses for power electronics and Electric Control Unit(ECU) systems in on-vehicle and off-vehicle product developments. Analysis includes fatigue, linear, non- linear, random vibration, shock, harmonic, static and transient heat transfer Review mechanical CAD data to identify risk areas and necessary CAE analyses Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze structural integrity of the systems Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analyses Propose design changes for mitigating failure modes identified from CAE results Conduct correlation analysis with CAE and DV testing results Participate in cross-functional engineering activities and lead the CAE result reviews Work closely with product design teams to optimize designs to meet their engineering requirements and cost targets Develop technical findings and recommendations for peer reviews and present them Engage with design reviews and validation testing to ensure that the products can be met the reliability targets Qualifications Minimum Master degree with 5+ years or PHD with 2+ years of experience related to Structural and/or Thermal CAE analyses focusing in power electronics, PCB, and ECU assembly systems ABAQUS and/or STAR-CCM+ experience required Altair HyperMesh, HyperView, and/or ANSA experience required Strong knowledge of structural and/or thermal engineering principles Experience in working with power switching devices, liquid/ forced air cooling system, extruded heatsinks, die casting part, and other mechanical part materials Experience with best practices of constructing CAE models and conducting simulations. Applied knowledge/experience of system requirements and design validation testing. Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings. Experience working in the automotive industry and startup environment preferred. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $137,800 - $172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
