Staff Engineer - Manufacturing

As a member of our manufacturing team, you will drive innovation and efficiency by developing, evaluating, and enhancing manufacturing methods. Leveraging your expertise in product design, tooling, equipment capabilities, fabrication processes, and assembly techniques, you’ll help ensure our products are built to the highest standards of quality and performance. You’ll play a hands-on role in implementing improvements that optimize safety, ergonomics, and quality control, all while ensuring processes and products meet design specifications and production goals. What you will do:

Identify and implement safety and ergonomic improvements as a first priority.Apply a strong understanding of GD&T concepts to interpret engineering drawings and ensure precision in manufacturing and quality control processes.Ensure assigned processes and process changes are compliant and documented in accordance with Stryker procedures and applicable regulations.Identify sources of waste in production and implement changes to drive cost, quality, and throughput improvements; support production associates in doing the same.Evaluate blueprints for part processing to ensure manufacturability.Partner with the materials group to drive inventory velocity.Support new product development and ensure smooth transitions into production.Coordinate new and existing machinery in the plant to ensure proper material flow and efficiency.Focus on customer satisfaction through teamwork and empowerment, solving problems through a consultative approach, operating with honesty and integrity, and providing a highly responsive and exceptional level of customer service.Work under general supervision, planning, conducting, and supervising assignments with appreciable latitude for independent action or decision.Direct the work of Engineers or Senior Engineers as needed.Serve as a departmental resource in area of expertise, developing system-level design, development, testing, and refinement.Demonstrate commitment to quality by striving for reliability and excellence in products, continuously seeking ways to enhance performance, and meeting all training and documentation requirements.

What you need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent in related discipline, Mechanical Engineering preferred. • 4+ years of relevant work experience. • Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to review prints for DFMPHYSICAL/SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:• May involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as appropriate.• May be required to reach, push, or pull in order to accomplish job accountabilities.• Coordination of eye, hand, and/or foot movement with an ability to grasp by hand and meet cognitive demands to include visual and auditory discrimination/memory, reading ability, and memory retention ability.• Requires use of safety glasses in designated areas. Additional Personal Protective Equipment may be required for some manufacturing support functions.• Closed-toe shoes must be worn on the production floor; safety shoes are recommended.• Requires ability to lift/carry 10-50 lbs. on a frequent basis depending on product line, may rarely lift/carry 50-75 lbs.• Meets cognitive demands to include visual discrimination/memory, auditory discrimination/memory reading ability, independent decision making and retention of specific knowledge.• May be exposed to loud noises.
