About the job: You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary team of product managers, marketers, designers and engineers who research and innovate on the latest technologies to create awesome digital products that millions of people will experience every day. Managers at 7Next have a large amount of experience across multiple areas and lead the technical direction of the team, guiding developers and communicating team progress alongside the Product Manager and Design Lead. They can plan, coordinate, and deliver large tasks spanning multiple systems, and are strong communicators. They actively coach and mentor developers on their development team and can identify and resolve issues with technology and product processes. As a manager, you will not only help teams navigate technical problems, but grow and coach your reports to achieve a greater degree of impact throughout the organization. Note that most managers will typically only spend 0 -15% of their time programming, with the bulk of their time being committed to architecting/planning, mentoring, team morale, budget management, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: + Lead the research, prototyping, and development of software solutions for retail problems + Recruit, retain, and grow talent throughout R&D, with a focus on technical excellence + Represent R&D in cross-functional meetings with technical teams and business stakeholders + Stay up to date with emerging technologies and learn new technologies/libraries/frameworks + Learn and partner with peers across multiple disciplines, such as computer vision, machine learning, and systems design + Deliver on time with a high bar on quality of research, innovation and engineering Basic Qualifications: + 5+ years of experience working in a technical role, with 1 to 2 years in a senior technical role + 3+ years of experience building apps, digital products, hardware, or machine learning systems + 2+ years of experience reviewing and refining architecture and conducting code reviews + 2+ years of experience managing a team of engineers in a management or technical lead capacity + Familiarity with cloud-based architectures + Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering/Math, or relevant experience Extra Credit: + Experience managing highly technical subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines #LI-JR1 If an hourly or salary range is included in this ad it represents the range 7-Eleven in good faith believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
