Staff Engineer, Bioinformatics Software Test

In the R&D Bioinformatics team, we deliver software tools, data analytics and reporting to increase lab productivity, equip scientists to develop innovative products and enable customers to perform quality, up-to-date diagnostic testing.

As our Bioinformatics Staff Test Engineer, you will be taking on a dynamic role that will require flexibility, inventiveness and initiative.  You will partner with Bioinformatics Scientists, software engineers, business and domain experts to assure quality in the software tools and scientific data that support molecular typing and antibody detection products.

Take on ownership of quality processes in Bioinformatics teamChampion quality that is practical, effective and efficientEstablish and develop automated testingParticipate in all phases of product development lifecycle as a test engineerLead and coordinate test activities across the development team and internal customersAuthor, implement and maintain all V&V deliverables in compliance with SDLC and GxP requirementsTranslate scientific and business requirements to develop test plans, test cases and user documentation for scientific software and dataIdentify risks to product and processes and help with their mitigationHelp prepare functional and technical specifications Help coordinate projects including meeting schedule and document managementRegularly communicate accomplishments and progress to team members and management

Qualifications

Education / Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Life Sciences/Molecular Biology or related field with 3+ years programming work experience in a bio-informatics or science field OR Bachelors degree in  Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Life Sciences/Molecular Biology or related field with 5+ years programming work experience in a bio-informatics or science field is requiredQA Automation Development: Must have 2+ years experience in test automation or using Java, Python, scripting (preferably Python and SQL) and ability to learn C#Ability to develop automated test cases/scripts from manual tests.Ability to run automated testing and debug issues found within automation codeAbility to create automated testing frameworkExperience working in regulated environment, following SDLC and GxP requirementsProficiency working in Windows environments, MS Office and SQL databases.  Knowledge of Linux environment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of Agile and other software development methodologies.Understanding wet lab techniques and principles in the field of Molecular Biology, Genomics, and/or BiochemistryKnowledge of immunology, HLA

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.
