Staff Electrical Engineer - Instrumentation, and Controls (Denver)

We are seeking a mid-level Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EIC) Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our team supporting projects across the Oil Gas and Utility sectors. This role will provide hands-on design and engineering support across electrical and instrumentation/control systems while offering the opportunity to grow into more advanced technical or project roles over time.

We’re looking for candidates with a strong technical background in either Electrical or Instrumentation and Controls, who are eager to develop skills across both disciplines. Attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team are essential. You’ll collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers on a variety of multidiscipline projects focused on energy transition, infrastructure upgrades, and critical facility improvements.

This is a hands-on design role with opportunities to grow into increased leadership, client engagement, and project responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering

Develop and support complete electrical drawing packages, including:One-line diagrams, electrical area classification plans, grounding plans, and lighting layouts.Conduit and cable routing plans, conduit schedules, and cable schedules.Electrical interconnection diagrams, panel layouts, and termination drawings.Perform basic electrical calculations such as load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, and cable/conduit sizing.Select and specify equipment such as switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, UPS, and distribution panels.Assist in developing bill of materials (BOMs), equipment datasheets, and supporting procurement packages.Use electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM) to assist with system studies.

Instrumentation Controls (IC)

Assist to prepare and maintain complete IC drawing packages, including:Instrument location plans, instrument lists, and I/O lists.Loop diagrams, ladder diagrams, and wiring diagrams.Control panel layouts, terminal diagrams, and panel BOMs.PIDs in collaboration with process and mechanical teams.Assist in developing instrument datasheets, control philosophies, cause effect matrices, and network architecture diagrams.Assist in specifying PLCs, RTUs, instrumentation, and control system components.Coordinate with vendors for instrumentation and control panel submittals and integration.

General Responsibilities

Contribute to proposal support, including preliminary scope, budget, and schedule input.Support site walkdowns and data collection for retrofit or greenfield design.Collaborate with multi-discipline design teams to produce coordinated drawing packages.Interface with clients and vendors to align on scope, schedule, and technical requirements.Participate in construction support, including RFIs, redlines, and field verifications.Maintain quality standards by applying established processes and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
