Staff Accountant II

Department: Accounting/Finance
Reports to: Director of Finance (DOF)
General Purpose:
Supports the accounting function with the direction of the DOF.
Essential Duties
Perform full-cycle accounting duties including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements and audits. Reconcile cash accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Collaborate with department heads to gather financial data for the month end close. Ensure regular and reliable attendance and meet all internal deadlines. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Identify and troubleshoot accounting issues using critical thinking and analytical skills. Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Position reports to Director of Finance Astute in leading process Acting as supervisor within department
Education/Experience:
5-years or more of related experience and combined educationPhysical Demands:
Frequently sits, uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments. A self-starter with a proactive attitude and a desire to grow professionally. Bilingual English / Spanish preferred. Prior experience in supervising and mentoring junior level staff is a plus.
