Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Salinas, California. As part of a dynamic agricultural business, this role will focus on managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the company’s growth objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities: • Handle daily accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintaining the general ledger. • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. • Reconcile bank accounts and swiftly address any discrepancies. • Maintain comprehensive records of company assets and inventory for fresh produce operations. • Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements. • Contribute to the development of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic planning. • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to help guide management decisions. • Support external audits by preparing detailed documentation and financial reports. • Drive process improvements by implementing automation and streamlining workflows. • Partner with other departments to ensure accurate integration of financial data with overall business operations. Posted by Staffing Director Scott Moore Requirements • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in agriculture, food production, or distribution industries. • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards. • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities. • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Familiarity with agriculture-related accounting or commodity cost tracking is a plus.
