Job Description
The Staff Accountant (Operations Accountant) plays a key role in overseeing and optimizing financial activities across multiple branches within a large, multi-site organization. This position ensures the integrity of financial information, adherence to US GAAP, compliance with standardized internal processes and regulatory requirements, and efficient coordination of financial processes across various functions.
Responsibilities
Organize and direct the month-end close process across multiple branches, including leading month-end close calls for the west region.Enforce and maintain internal controls at both branch and regional levels to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency in financial reporting.Oversee and control branch-level accounting and working capital, including billing and accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, prepaids and accruals, and branch property, plant, and equipment.Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with US GAAP for a large, multi-site organization.Perform and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.Conduct profit and loss (P&L) reviews to identify variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement.Coordinate and collaborate with branch and regional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information.Provide training and coaching to branch teams on accounting processes, internal controls, and financial best practices.Support regional leadership in Operations and Finance by providing accurate financial data, insights, and recommendations.Utilize ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas) to manage, analyze, and report financial data.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial processes and enhance operational efficiency.Support west coast operations and accommodate occasional extended hours, including work after 6 p.m. when needed to meet deadlines.Essential Skills
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting or Finance.3+ years of experience preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.3+ years of experience managing the month-end close process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, for an organization with revenue greater than $300M and multi-site locations.Strong knowledge of US GAAP and its application in a complex, multi-branch environment.Hands-on experience with journal entries, accruals, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.Experience conducting profit and loss (P&L) reviews and financial analysis.Experience working within a multi-site organization, coordinating financial activities across multiple locations.2+ years of experience with an ERP system such as JDE, SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or a similar platform.2+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliation and maintaining accurate general ledger accounts.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple month-end closes and deadlines.Ability to lead and participate in month-end close calls and cross-functional financial discussions.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting operational and regional leadership with financial insights and reporting.Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and support branch teams on accounting processes and internal controls.Comfort working in a shared services or centralized accounting environment.Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of financial integrity.Ability to work effectively in a large, publicly traded organization.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, operations, and branch teams.Proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement and operational efficiency.Adaptability to support different time zones, particularly west coast operations.Work Environment
This role is fully onsite, working five days per week at a modern, state-of-the-art facility in Blue Bell, PA. The shared services team consists of a group of more than 20 professionals, with staff accountants reporting to managers who each oversee approximately 5\u20137 team members. The organization offers a collaborative environment with strong internal mobility and a culture that supports promotion from within. Team members have access to on-site amenities, including a gym and a lunch room. The position supports west coast operations, so there may be occasional requirements to work after 6 p.m. to align with branch needs and month-end close timelines. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
