About this Role

Join Ampacity as a Staff Accountant and play a critical role in navigating complex multi-state tax compliance as we expand solar construction projects nationwide. You'll manage sales and use tax reporting across diverse jurisdictions while supporting essential accounting functions that keep our operations running smoothly. This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact on financial accuracy and regulatory compliance in a high-growth renewable energy company. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, sharp analytical skills, and thrives in a dynamic environment where strategic problem-solving directly supports our clean energy mission.

This position is fully remote, with strong preference for PST. 

Salary Range: $75,000-80,000

What You'll Do

Sales & Use Tax Compliance 

Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions using Vertex O Series Maintain exemption certificates, resale documentation, and respond to sales tax inquiries from sales and contracts teams Research and monitor evolving sales tax laws, communicating regulatory changes that impact business operations Respond to tax notices, support audits, and assist with tax configuration and testing in Vertex and ERP systems Conduct ad hoc tax reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making 

General Accounting & Compliance Support 

Obtain and maintain Notary Public license to assist with lien waiver notarization Manage all company licenses and registrations including sales tax licenses, business registrations, state certificates of authority, and contractor/engineering licenses across multiple states Monitor compliance requirements for general contractor licenses, bonds, and professional licenses—partnering with engineering and construction teams to ensure renewals stay current Support month-end and year-end close activities through journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting Strengthen internal controls related to tax and compliance while identifying process improvements and system enhancements  What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)  2–4 years of general accounting experience with working knowledge of sales and use tax compliance  Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and proficiency in Excel  Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment  Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a team-oriented, adaptable mindset Multi-state sales tax compliance experience  Familiarity with Vertex O Series and NetSuite ERP systems  What You'll Get
