Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Midland, Texas. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing company within the oil and gas field services industry. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting and administrative functions while demonstrating a proactive and collaborative approach to supporting both financial and HR-related tasks. Responsibilities: • Prepare and maintain accurate journal entries and reconcile accounts to ensure financial records are precise and up-to-date. • Manage general ledger activities, including tracking and reviewing transactions to support financial reporting. • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to perform data analysis, create pivot tables, and apply formulas such as VLOOKUPs. • Administer employee benefits, assist with onboarding processes, and maintain HR records with confidentiality. • Educate employees on health insurance topics, including deductibles, copays, PPOs, and out-of-pocket maximums, while addressing their questions. • Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements in both accounting and administrative functions. • Adapt to evolving company processes and systems to support organizational growth. • Communicate workload challenges effectively and seek assistance when required. • Uphold high standards of accuracy and confidentiality across all responsibilities. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, office administration, or a similar role, preferably with exposure to HR and payroll functions. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data filtering. • Familiarity with health insurance concepts and the ability to explain plans to employees. • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset. • Proven ability to adapt to new processes and take initiative in a fast-paced environment. • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities. • Willingness to work onsite in Midland, Texas, with occasional overtime as needed. • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all tasks.
