Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic legal environment by ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes. Responsibilities:
• Perform daily reconciliation of operating cash accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Post journal entries for bank charges, interbank transfers, and operating account activities while reviewing supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with teams such as treasury, accounts payable, and cash receipts to investigate and report differences between book and bank activity.
• Generate accurate daily operating bank account balances and prepare weekly cash flow projections for global headquarters.
• Maintain comprehensive daily cash flow projections utilizing operating expense and capital expenditure budgets.
• Draft monthly escrow account reports for review by management, lawyers, and clients.
• Prepare and update monthly workpapers for balance sheet and income statement accounts to confirm the accuracy of general ledger balances.
• Assist in the training and testing of general ledger modules during accounting software transitions.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies in all tasks. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably in a legal or detail-oriented services environment.
• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Familiarity with Elite 3E or Aderant accounting systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and journal entries.
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Knowledge of legal accounting practices or similar frameworks is advantageous.
