Staff Accountant – JLL
What this job involves:
As a Staff Accountant at JLL, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our diverse real estate portfolio by performing essential accounting functions that support our clients' property management operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting expertise within the commercial real estate industry while working with a global leader in property services. You'll be responsible for executing month-end close procedures, managing financial reporting, and ensuring accurate record-keeping that enables informed business decisions across JLL's extensive client base. This virtual role provides flexibility while offering meaningful career development within our collaborative finance and accounting team.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Execute month-end and year-end closing activities including balance sheet reconciliations, cash account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements for assigned property portfoliosPrepare comprehensive monthly financial packages and submit them to the Finance & Accounting Manager within established deadlines to ensure timely reporting cyclesPerform detailed bank statement reconciliations on a monthly basis, following up on outstanding checks and resolving reconciling items to maintain accurate cash positionsProcess client invoicing and vendor payments for designated facility groups while ensuring proper documentation and approval workflowsPrepare and document journal entries, track accruals, and maintain supporting documentation to ensure audit-ready financial recordsAssist with budget preparation, forecasting activities, and management fee calculations to support strategic planning initiativesMonitor cash management activities for assigned properties and ensure compliance with JLL Internal Audit standards and Client Accounting Services SAS 70 requirementsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution0-2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in corporate finance, public accounting, or real estate environmentsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions, pivot tables, and financial modeling capabilitiesSolid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, month-end close processes, and financial statement preparationExcellent attention to detail with demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy in high-volume transaction environmentsStrong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholdersAbility to work independently in a virtual environment while meeting strict deadlines and managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyPreferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of property management accounting principles and commercial real estate industry practicesExperience with accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systemsFamiliarity with financial analysis techniques and variance analysis for budget-to-actual comparisonsBasic understanding of cash flow management principles and working capital optimizationPrevious experience in client service environments with demonstrated customer service orientationCPA certification progress or intent to pursue professional accounting credentialsExposure to SAS 70/SOC 1 compliance requirements and internal control frameworksThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
