Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a meticulous and systems-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role is pivotal to maintaining smooth financial operations, with responsibilities ranging from payroll processing to journal entry support. You will collaborate across departments, including HR, procurement, and operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and government regulations. Responsibilities: • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing, including timecards, bonuses, and withholdings, using Gusto. • Ensure accurate labor cost tracking by overseeing departmental timecard approvals. • Submit and monitor 401(k) contributions and ensure compliance with employee benefits. • Review and process purchase orders through Procurify, ensuring proper routing and coding. • Handle invoice entries, payment runs, and initiate payments via Chase Bank. • Reconcile Divvy card transactions and manage AP processes using Bill.com. • Prepare supporting documentation for journal entries, including payroll, accruals, and indirect costs. • Assist with month-end close processes, ensuring proper reconciliation and interdepartmental coordination. • Track fixed assets and support subledger reconciliations. • Contribute to the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365, optimizing accounting workflows. Requirements • 3–5+ years of experience in payroll or accounting operations, including journal entry preparation. • Familiarity with manufacturing or government contracting environments. • Proficiency in AP processing, payment reconciliations, and cost tracking. • Experience with timekeeping standards and labor cost allocation. • Comfort navigating multiple accounting systems and high-volume workflows. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Finance & Ops is a plus. • Prior experience with system transitions or implementations is highly desirable. • Understanding of payroll reconciliations and fixed asset accounting.
