Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a meticulous and skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth accounting operations within a fast-paced construction company. Responsibilities: • Enter and post daily transactions accurately into the general ledger to ensure up-to-date financial records. • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including reconciling discrepancies and following up on outstanding invoices. • Prepare and process journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial data. • Assist with corporate tax returns and sales tax filings to ensure compliance with regulations. • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve any variances or discrepancies. • Collaborate with the financial consultant on assigned projects to support organizational goals. • Generate financial reports and summaries as required to aid in decision-making. • Monitor deadlines for accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely completion. • Provide support during audits and other financial reviews. • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of financial transactions and related records. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, ideally within the construction industry. • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Jonas, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), journal entries, and general ledger processes. • Familiarity with corporate tax returns and sales tax procedures. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and external parties.
