Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in Whitehall, Michigan. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth, with a clear path to transition into an Assistant Controller position. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills, a passion for accuracy, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations. • Ensure financial statements are accurate and comply with company policies and relevant regulations. • Assist in the completion of month-end and year-end closing processes. • Prepare detailed accounting schedules and supporting documentation for financial reports. • Collaborate with the Controller to conduct variance analysis and create management reports. • Support external audits by organizing and providing requested financial documentation. • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability. • Develop expertise in operational and strategic finance functions to prepare for higher-level responsibilities. • Participate in training led by senior management to facilitate a smooth transition to the Assistant Controller role. • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company-specific financial regulations. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing setting. • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines. • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities. • Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and general ledger management. • Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
