Description A growing company in Albuquerque is looking for a Staff Accountant. Primary duties include preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling bank and account statements, maintaining and analyzing the general ledger, and assisting in month-end and year-end closing processes. They also ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations and may collaborate with external auditors during audits. Additional responsibilities might include handling accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, and assisting in payroll processing. A staff accountant should have strong attention to detail, solid analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) and familiarity with tools like Excel are essential for success in this role. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. Requirements Education and Certifications: + Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field + CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or other relevant certifications, though often optional, can be preferred and provide a competitive edge for senior roles. Experience: + Entry-level positions may require 0-2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience. + For higher-level staff accountant roles, 2-5 years of experience in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or general ledger management are commonly sought after.
