Description Colleen McAuliffe at Robert Half is looking for a bilingual Staff Accountant fluent in English and Japanese to join a dynamic and internationally focused team in New York, New York. In this role, you will contribute to essential accounting operations while bridging cross-cultural communication and ensuring compliance with both U.S. and Japanese financial practices. Responsibilities: • Manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR). • Execute accurate journal entries and oversee month-end close processes to ensure timely reporting. • Prepare financial reports in compliance with U.S. and Japanese accounting standards. • Collaborate with colleagues based in Japan to address cross-border accounting matters and ensure seamless coordination. • Assist in internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and support. • Translate financial documents and facilitate communication to bridge language and cultural differences within the team. • Utilize SAP to manage and analyze financial data effectively. • Ensure adherence to all relevant financial regulations and company policies. Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger management. • Strong knowledge of journal entries and month-end close procedures. • Fluency in both English and Japanese, with the ability to translate financial documents and communicate effectively. • Familiarity with SAP software and its applications in accounting. • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. • Understanding of U.S. and Japanese financial compliance standards. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
