Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this role, you will collaborate with the Director of Accounting and other team members to ensure smooth accounting operations, focusing on month-end and year-end closings, compliance tasks, and audits. This position requires strong organizational skills, precise attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities: • Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing and reviewing financial statements. • Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across general ledger activities. • Manage credit card reconciliations and process remote check deposits efficiently. • Handle state and local compliance tasks, including annual reports, business licenses, and contractor permit renewals. • Facilitate requests for Certificates of Insurance for customers and review vendor insurance documentation. • Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits. • Maintain accurate records and contribute to process improvement initiatives. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to accounting standards. • Execute additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the department. Requirements • Minimum of 2-6 years of accounting experience, particularly in month-end and year-end close. • Strong proficiency in accounting software, such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or Epicore. • Solid understanding of general ledger functions, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with complex datasets. • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail to meet tight deadlines. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a positive team-oriented attitude. • Ability to quickly adapt to new responsibilities and learn new systems or processes. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or an Associate degree with relevant experience.
