Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Sedro Woolley, Washington. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial management, compliance with regulations, and support for grant and program accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of thriving in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities: • Manage and maintain general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy. • Assist in the preparation and execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes. • Oversee accounting functions for tribal programs and grants, ensuring adherence to funding and regulatory requirements. • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately. • Perform bank and investment account reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities. • Support audit preparation, including responding to inquiries from auditors and providing necessary documentation. • Utilize accounting software systems to streamline financial processes and reporting. • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to resolve work-related conflicts and ensure smooth operations. • Safeguard financial records and uphold confidentiality agreements. Benefits: M/D/V coverage – employee pays a nominal monthly cost, 401k plan, PTO increases with tenure – 40 hours/year to start, 6 hours/month of Sick leave (separate from PTO) Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with at least three years of accounting experience, or an associate’s degree with seven years of comparable work experience. • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). • Proficiency in accounting software systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information professionally and accurately. • Proven ability to handle work conflicts with coworkers and stakeholders effectively.
