Staff Accountant
Description Our client, a corporate retail company, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes. + Prepare, review, and post journal entries for accurate recording of financial transactions. + Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness. + Support month-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement analysis. + Assist with accruals and deferred expense entries to ensure compliance with GAAP regulations. + Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances. + Process vendor invoices, match with purchase orders, and ensure timely payments. + Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts to support retail operations. + Analyze inventory reports and resolve discrepancies. + Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits. + Assist with compliance reporting and corporate tax requirements. + Prepare variance analysis reports to identify and explain variances from budget or forecast. + Assist in developing financial dashboards and reporting tools for operational departments. + Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy. + Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, including Corporate Development and Technology Standards, on financial projects. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or progress toward certification is a plus. + Minimum of 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the retail or corporate setting. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks). Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. + Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with inventory or cost accounting preferred. + Accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation is critical.
