Sr. Tech Program Manager, EV Charging & Infrastructure Engineering
Amazon.com
Amazon is building the largest EV fleet and charging network in the world as part of our Climate Pledge. The Sr. Technical Program Manager will be responsible for developing and introducing new hardware products (with a heavy software component) for our charging network. You'll be joining a fast-paced team building from zero-to-one. The ideal candidate for this role will be 1) highly customer obsessed, 2) strong at deep diving technical issues and looking around corners to gauge technical risks, 3) excel at building new processes and mechanisms with a multitude of stakeholders, both external and internal, and 4) excellent at communicating program updates and progress to all levels of leadership.
Key job responsibilities
* Oversee hardware development programs with a strong software component, including (but not limited to) connectivity solutions, provisioning of new equipment, and customization/development of electrical infrastructure components to meet our unique fleet use cases
* Coordinate between internal stakeholders, vendor engineering teams, and manufacturing partners to ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines
* Drive continuous improvement in hardware design based on field performance data, reliability metrics, and operational insights
* Deep dive failures (including through testing, log reviews, SQL queries) to determine root causes
* Oversee field testing of new solutions
* Write concise updates to share progress and risks with leadership
* Travel will be required 25-30% of the time, with some heavier months and some lighter months.
A day in the life
You'll start off the morning by reviewing third party designs and comparing them against our requirements for Amazon operations. You'll then provide feedback to the 3Ps in writing ahead of a weekly sync up.
In the afternoon, you'll deep dive a high risk failure mode and work with your engineering team counterparts to develop a test plan to rule out/confirm different hypotheses. You'll also query datasets as part of your deep dive.
You'll finish up the day by contributing to a leadership business review with a program status update and sharing key program risks/mitigations/impacts to timeline.
About the team
The EV Charging Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) team is responsible for accelerating Amazon's Last Mile electrification and facilitating the successful transition of our delivery fleet to achieve net zero-emissions in support of The Climate Pledge. We define EV charging and infrastructure engineering requirements, develop or source solutions to meet those needs, and manage the performance of our EV charging assets post-installation. We are relentless evangelists for our products and technology solutions, and the positive impact they will have on our internal and external customers.
