Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Sr. Tax Specialist with a focus on Sales and Use tax to manage state and local filings, tax clearances, and research tax rates. The ideal candidate will have experience in general ledger accounting and be able to influence tax processes effectively. This role requires filing in every state and utilizing local and state portals, with a typical workload of 25-35 returns per month.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with internal and external tax audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
+ Prepare, process, and maintain all documentation related to the accounting cycle.
+ Confirm accuracy of records and documents related to tax reporting and preparation.
+ Help design and implement tax policies, and evaluate managerial processes to ensure compliance.
+ Lead all tax-related planning and reporting including filing of corporate tax returns.
+ Stay up to date on all federal, state, and local tax and accounting laws, and advise business leaders on best practices.
+ Assist in developing business and investment strategies for an optimized tax return.
+ Assist in developing new policies and procedures for improving the collection of tax information from department managers.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Sales tax, sales and use tax, accounting, and tax.
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or equivalent required.
+ 5+ years of experience in a tax-related position.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
+ Experience utilizing ERP software (Acumatica preferred).
+ Detail-oriented, team-oriented, and deadline-oriented.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
+ Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.50 - $43.50/hr.
