Sr. Specialist, Tax and Garnishments
**The Position** Are you passionate about payroll tax and garnishment compliance? This role offers an opportunity to ensure every tax and garnishment update is thoroughly tested and seamlessly integrated into our payroll systems. As a Senior Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll taxes and garnishments across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. Collaboration is the heart of this position, involving close partnerships with the Payroll Team, HRIT, the Ridgefield Retained Organization, and trusted third-party vendors. Responsibilities include managing payroll tax compliance at the federal, state, and local levels; processing garnishment orders such as child support and tax levies; overseeing tax registrations and filings; coordinating year-end close activities; preparing W-2 forms; and providing outstanding support to employees. **Responsibilities** + Serve as subject matter expert for all payroll tax and garnishment activities, overseeing end-to-end payroll tax and garnishment processing and reconciliation after each pay run + Test and implement all tax and garnishment related system updates, including OSS notes, BSI TUBS, and HRSP packages, ensuring accuracy through user acceptance testing (UAT) + Manage quarterly balancing and reconciliation of federal and state taxes, including timely online filing + Interpreting and responding to garnishment orders and interrogatories, processing accurate payroll deductions, and effectively communicating with impacted employees. + Compliance monitoring and coordination with internal and external stakeholders + Research, analyze, and resolve payroll tax and garnishment issues, including corrections to employee tax profiles, garnishment amendments and resolution of tax or garnishment related cases + Coordinate year-end close activities, including W-2 preparation and delivery of high-quality customer service to employees + Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by reviewing legislation, enforcing adherence, and advising management on required actions + Collaborate with HR and cross-functional teams to provide timely support, clear communication, and accurate payroll tax information **Qualifications** + Academic degree in business or equivalent + 5+ years payroll tax/ garnishment experience performing all functions of payroll, tax and garnishment. Advanced knowledge of payroll, garnishment, payroll tax, tax reporting and tax correspondence at federal, state and local levels.
