Job Description: 

The Senior Specialist, Network Engineer (NE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Sr. Specialist NE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms. 

Essential Functions:

Assist in the design and development of physical and logical network architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domainsMaintains networks (both LAN & WAN) connecting airborne and ground systems via terrestrial and BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight) circuitsTranslate the voice of the customer into system level requirementsPerform requirement traceability methods and purposeAssist and or perform systems engineering trade studiesAssist in the evaluation of trade studies for accuracy and completenessWrite subsystem specifications based on system level requirementsEvaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designReview and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirementsDevelop and execute network test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirementsPrepare effective presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionalsCollaborate with multiple disciplines of engineering, to design a cohesive creditable multiple security domain network, and integrate the resulting design in a MILSTD based development environment

Qualifications:  

U.S. CitizenshipAbility to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or 4 years equivalent experience.Intermediate knowledge and experience in network (LAN/WAN) design incorporating industry standard security best practices; NIST frameworkIntermediate network engineering experience including IP addressing, switching and routing, VLANs, VPNs, video teleconferencing, VoIP telephony, and LANs/WANsIntermediate experience in routing protocols including RIP, EGIRP, OSPF, and BGPCertification and Accreditation process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate on government networksDODAF knowledgeConfiguration, integration, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, voice, and video teleconferencing equipmentExcellent written, oral, and presentation communication skillsExperience developing, authoring, and implementing software and system test plans in a team environmentExperience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire build cycleHands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware
