RIS is accountable for the development and delivery of digital solutions, common Diagnostics architecture and data management.  Digitalization in healthcare is of increasing importance to deliver customer and patient value, and shape healthcare.

Digital Development Services (DDS) is part of RIS division of Roche, which provides digital product for various diagnostic workflow and services. We are part of RIS and work on digitization of pathology workflow in pathology lab operation to improve accuracy, efficiency and turnaround time for pathologist. We provide on premise and cloud deployed end-to-end digital workflow solutions to pathology labs across the globe.

The Opportunity

The Tech Lead Engineer is a member of a team of 10+ engineers and will apply knowledge of design principles, practices in the implementation of complex, enterprise-scale software systems. General responsibilities include design concept generation, participating in design reviews for components or features, development and testing of the core software stack, unit testing of back end components and integration with external partner APIs.

Works autonomously or in a small team on specific product features with occasional guidance and in coordination with other team mates. Establishing an internal network across technical teams. Lead other backend engineers in design and development related challenges and review their work to ensure quality of deliverables.

Job Facts

Software Development: This is a hands-on software development position to write high-quality software that will perform at scale, be supportable, and be extensible.Process & Operations: Ensure the software stack integrates with our existing CI pipeline and contribute to continuous improvement; independently design, plan and deliver high-quality software.Leadership: Ensure a culture that values technical excellence together with support and compassion for individuals.Technology stack: Most of the front end stack is in Angular (backed by Spring boot microservices) but we constantly explore different technologies and toolsets that are fit-for-purpose. Here is a list of technologies we currently use:Java, Spring Boot, Spring, HibernateJavascript MVC framework: Angular 16, ThreeJSObject Oriented JavaScript, HTML5, JSON, and CSS3TypeScriptUnit testing using Junit.GIT, GithubAWS (Must have working knowledge in EC2, ECS, ECR, Lambda, Elastic Cache, Route53, CloudFront, API Gateway, S3, Glacier, RDS, NLB/ALB, Security Groups/NACLs/VPCs, Cloud Watch )Docker & KubernetesExperience In REST API integration

Your main responsibilities will include:

Design and implement product modules in Java and related frameworks.Develop new user facing features - websites and extensions across several major browsersTranslate UI/UX design wireframes to actual codeWrite clean, well designed, testable, efficient and maintainable code.Develop new set of APIs and write unit test cases for same.Integrate product with external partner APIs.Write reusable code and librariesEnhance application for maximum speed and scalabilityCollaborate with team members and stakeholderReview code written by fellow junior developers.Involve in stand-up, sprint planning, and demos with co-workers

Who You Are

BS/MS degree in Computer Science or directly related discipline10+ years of hands-on industry experience as a full stack developerBelieve in the achieving higher technical excellence and customer satisfaction everydayExperience of Java, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, Rest services & APIs.Experience of HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, BootStrap, Integrating Rest services & APIs.Experience in designing concurrent and multitenant services.Experience in cloud development prominently using AWS.Solid understanding of design patterns, object-oriented design.Hands-on software development experience in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Spring BootQuick learner with the ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problemsExperience in healthcare is not required, but familiarity with healthcare data and workflows is a plus (e.g. HL7, IHE)Knowledge and experience with the Agile development process or SAFe is plus.
