About the Job: Are you interested in leading the development of cutting-edge restaurant technology that directly impacts millions of customers and team members across 7,500+ restaurants? As a Sr. Software Engineer II at Taco Bell, you will serve as a technical leader and domain expert within our fast-growing Restaurant Technology organization. In this role, you will not only be a hands-on contributor, but also a driver of technical strategy, architectural decisions, and execution excellence for our Touch Kitchen Display System (TKDS) platform. You will work across teams to solve highly complex, ambiguous problems at scale, influence platform direction, and ensure our solutions are resilient, secure, and future-ready. The Sr. Software Engineer II reports to the Sr. Manager of Software Engineering and plays a key role in shaping the technical vision and long-term evolution of the TKDS ecosystem. The Day-to-Day: • Serve as a technical owner for major components or end-to-end features within the TKDS Android platform • Be a hands-on developer driving software development in a fast paced and dynamic environment • Lead architecture and design discussions, making trade-off decisions that balance performance, reliability, security, and speed to market • Partner closely with Product, UX, QA, Platform, and Cloud teams to align technical execution with business outcomes • Set and enforce engineering standards across code quality, testing strategy, observability, documentation, and operational readiness • Act as a mentor and technical multiplier, coaching engineers across the team through design reviews, deep-dive sessions, and hands-on guidance • Lead the evolution of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and development tooling, including AI-assisted engineering workflows • Influence technical roadmaps and contribute to long-term platform strategy, ensuring solutions scale with business growth and future capabilities Is this you? • 7+ years of professional Android development experience, with deep expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, and modern Android architecture patterns • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of experience • Strong mastery of performance optimization, including diagnosing and resolving ANRs, memory issues, startup latency, and UI rendering challenges • Enjoy working in cross-functional teams, can communicate technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders, and thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives from concept through delivering large-scale with minimal oversight • Familiar with AWS managed and serverless technologies a plus • Track record of influencing beyond your immediate team through technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration Work-Hard, Play-Hard: • Hybrid work schedule and year-round flex day Friday Note: Remote/hybrid expectations will be discussed during the kickoff meeting with your Talent Advisor & HRBP. • Onsite childcare through Bright Horizons • Onsite dining center and game room (yes, there is a Taco Bell inside the building) • Onsite dry cleaning, laundry services, carwash, • Onsite gym with fitness classes and personal trainer sessions • Up to 4 weeks of vacation per year plus holidays and time off for volunteering • Generous parental leave for all new parents and adoption assistance program • 401(k) with a 6% matching contribution from Yum!
