The Role
As a Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, you will design, create and maintain high-quality cloud-based automated test frameworks, Performance Testing frameworks to help S&P Global’s Private Valuations and Assessments business grow. You will be working with a team of experienced application/web developers and QA engineers (in multiple global locations), highly qualified private capital markets financial analysts, operations and senior business stakeholders.
Day to day, you will review business requirements, contribute to test plans, test frameworks and test automation to assure the quality of various applications and services of S&P Global Private Valuations and Assessments solutions. You will have access to market-leading tools and services, and be part of a wider group that values technical excellence.
Duties & accountabilitiesCandidate needs to:
Be an active player in test architecture and test design discussions. Have a passion for technology and offer new ideas and approaches. Recommend product, process, and tooling improvements.Working closely with business stakeholders to analyse and refine business requirements, seeking clarifications and provide feedback.Design, implement and execute tests for new and existing features. Understand non-functional requirements like performance, scalability etc. aspect of the application.Build high-quality, reusable test automation code and libraries for future use in a timely and efficient manner.Be delivery focused. Participate in agile product development through all SDLC phases.Work closely with the Development and Business teams and highlight issues and risks proactively.Promote quality standards including: code conventions, code reviews, unit testing, static analysis and revision control. Coordinate with development staff to ensure quality processes are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.Maintain and support all areas of the application.Work in an individual capacity as well as in teams across geographies.Work under the general supervision of the Development Manager and take direction from other Leads within the organization where required.Must-Have Skills:Extensive experience in developing automation frameworks utilizing JavaScript/TypeScript with tools such as Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO, and Protractor.Proficient in conducting performance testing using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, K6 or Gatling to ensure application scalability and responsiveness under varying load conditions.Solid understanding of test design principles, including BDD/TDD, mocking, and test data management.Proven experience in managing and optimizing GitLab/GitHub CI/CD pipelines to improve the effectiveness of QA automation test executions.Proven experience in architecting large-scale, reusable, cross-platform automation frameworksBusiness competenciesEducation and experience5+ years strong technical and platform knowledge, including some or all of:
RequiredExtensive ability and commercial experience in one of the following languages: Java, JavaScript and or PythonMinimum 5 years of experience of testing commercial web applications or services used by external customers.Ability to produce highly reliable and reusable test automation with a high return on investmentExperience of building End to End (UI) and service level component (API) test automationThorough understanding of agile software development methodology and industry best practices.Thorough understanding of fundamental software engineering and computer science principles: object-oriented design, functional programming, structured design, databases, algorithms, data structures, usability, refactoring, debugging, and configuration management.Excellent design and problem solving skills and disciplined, engineering oriented mind set.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.Experience of Cloud Development preferably AWS and AWS Cloud ProductsDesirableLoad and Performance testing experienceSQLAWS managed services, Linux, DockerScala (or other functional programming experience)Angular 9+JavaScript/TypeScriptJavaExperience with Continuous Integration and build systemsGit + GitHubGood degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Numerate fieldExperience with configuration languages (CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.)Commercial awarenessKnowledge of Private Market Valuations and/or Financial Sector is advantageousLeadershipAbility to lead test planning and test automation development of a new or existing project/serviceDisplay commitment to own features and take them to successful delivery
