Job Title: Returns Analyst
Job Description
The Return Analyst is responsible for leading complex return processing activities including the validation and processing of product returns, and resolving customer disputes in the form of deductions, consistent with the company's Goods Policy (i.e., short-dated and/or expired product returns) and customer contractual requirements.
The Return Analyst position conducts root cause analysis & implements process improvements, develops/maintains process documentation (SOPs), performs advanced analytics providing operational and financial decision support, and engages cross‑functional teams to optimize return policies and financial accuracy.
Oversee complex return transactions/requests, ensuring accurate review, validation, approval, and policy compliance.Responsible for the reconciliation of customer returns and communication with key accounts to ensure financial disputes are addressed within service level expectations & contractual requirements.Manage customer and vendor interactions, resolving concerns, reducing deductions, and maintaining data accuracy.Lead investigations into discrepancies, product valuation errors, and unusual return patterns while ensuring accurate processing of product returns.Analyze return data to identify trends, financial risks, root causes, and opportunities for operational improvement.Drive process and system enhancements, including SOP updates, pricing policy adjustments, return system improvements, and the development and execution of user acceptance testingBuild and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools to monitor return performance and support forecasting and accruals.Produce monthly and ad hoc reporting with product and customer level insights using data from multiple systems.Partner cross functionally with Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Quality to refine policies, resolve issues, and support audits.Mentor junior analysts and serve as the primary liaison for return related functions, providing training and guidance.Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related discipline, with 3–6 years of experience in pharmaceutical returns, revenue management, or related operations.Strong analytical, financial, and problem solving capabilities, including advanced Excel proficiency, SAP experience, and familiarity with data visualization tools.Solid understanding of pharmaceutical distribution channels, wholesalers, return policies, and basic accounting principles.Proven ability to lead initiatives, collaborate cross functionally, resolve issues, manage deductions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.Experience working with manufacturers or distributors, preferably in pharmaceuticals or consumer goods, with additional experience in customer service or accounts receivable considered a plus.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate diplomatically.Demonstrated ability to multitask, work independently, mentor team members, and thrive in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities.Comfortable working extensively at a computer and managing detailed operational tasks with accuracy.Work Environment
This is a hybrid opportunity requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work based in Morristown, NJ. This role will be a part of the Returns/Chargebacks team.
