What you'll be doing

Perform a variety of Deposit Operations duties that require the ability to work in a time-sensitive environment with good critical thinking skills, accuracy, and diligence. This position is responsible for monitoring and processing all deposits related to Deposit Operations of the Bank as well as providing support to our lines of business. Candidate should possess the ability to adapt to change and promote teamwork through individual participation.

How you'll succeed

Review and process exceptions items to include Non-post and Stop Payments

Review of stop payment suspect report

Process incoming return items (chargebacks) to include redeposit or charge back of item to customers account, notifying account officer of large or potential fraudulent items, mailing notices and place holds as necessary

Review incoming return notifications and place holds as needed

Monitor and respond to inquiries received in the exception team email boxes

Reconciliation for foreign item deposits

Monitor and review Dormant activity

Daily review and morning pre-scrub of positive pay exception items including account maintenance, reconciliation and returns

Review, reconciliation and end of day processing of daily Overdrafts and unposted including sending out large dollar return notifications and reaching out to account officers for any follow up

Responsible for returned mail processing

Quality review of tasks processed by other teams within the department

Reconciliation of CD Interest Checks and Savings Bonds redemption

Other duties as assigned

Who you are

Minimum of 3 years of experience in back-office operations in a financial institution

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work based on request volume and other departmental assignments as assigned

Ability to work independently, meeting deadlines.

Detailed and process oriented with a focus on integrity and accuracy of information

Requires strong verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrate strong teamwork, independent learning, detailed analysis of requests, compliance to policy and procedure

Good working knowledge of applicable federal guidelines and regulations.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Knowledge of FIS systems preferred

Knowledge of TRIPS Incoming preferred

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $55,500 - $62,500K for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
