What You'll Be Doing

Lead deal team efforts for pre-screening and credit approval of new relationships, including collaboration with underwriting and portfolio management during analysis and submission for capital approval.Maintain awareness of deal status and be held accountable for team interactions with client and credit management in order to meet deadlines.Collaborate with portfolio management team to provide first-line risk management by maintaining performance discussions with the client on relevant mattersManage communication with client/agent as new deal progresses through underwriting to closing.Lead strategic client reviews with Group Head and cross-sell product partners to identify further opportunities with existing clients.Active use and maintenance of client relationship management system (CRM) in order to
ensure accurate pipeline forecasting and enhance relationship development.

How You'll Succeed

Responsible for new strategic relationship acquisition and resulting new business generation goals.Bolster market presence regionally and nationally with the purpose of promoting CIBC and cultivating potential prospects and referral sources.Drive new business through quality leads from regular prospect visits and a network of referral sources (including banker network).Work to become a trusted advisor/strategic partner to each client through regular contact.Lead deal negotiations with client working closely with Group Head and Underwriting team.Identify new client cross-sell opportunities with keen focus towards debt capital markets, liquidity solutions (deposits), global markets (FX/derivatives/commodity hedging), investment banking, and equipment finance. Include relevant product partners in client meetings at appropriate times.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Bachelor's or Master's in Business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent preferred.Minimum 15 years' total commercial banking experience.Preferably  minimum of 5 years’ mid corporate banking  or corporate banking experience.Minimum 5 years' experience in a business development role.Solid relationship management and networking skills in the diversified industries sector.Strong credit acumen and experience in analyzing complex financial statements.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with particular emphasis on experience in face-to-face negotiations.Experience partnering with deal structuring, underwriting, closing, and portfolio management teams.Poven track record of partnering with investment banking and capital markets on complex capital structures in order to collectively provide sound capital markets advice.Self motivated with ability to motivate others.Strategic thinker with excellent collaboration/teamwork skills.Proven leadership skills.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000.00- $275,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
