Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer (17480)

SR. MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER sought by Radisys Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon.

 

JOB DUTIES: Drive, develop, and implement effective manufacturing and in-process quality control processes and activities to support new product introduction (NPI) and production. Provide manufacturing engineering support for the successful NPI into operations through concurrent engineering practices, new technologies, and methods. Lead manufacturing efforts to ensure new product designs meet Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM), Design-for-Assembly (DFA), Design-for Environment (DFE), and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) requirements. Develop manufacturing process plans and procedures to meet production and quality goals and objectives. Assure that effective and efficient processes are documented, implemented, and comply with company standards and all regulatory requirements and oversee required regulatory and program reporting. Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by the federal Environmental Protection Agency, European Union, state, and local regulatory agencies. Determine impact on company operations and develop compliance strategies and requirements. Write, review, and approve engineering change orders (ECOs) and Deviations as required. Oversee or perform First Article Inspection (FAI) for NPI, ECO, Deviation and Rework. Drive "line down" issues caused by negative quality. Drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) for specific quality issues driven by customers, RMA data, or Redlights. Initiate Corrective Action Requests (CARs) as needed. Drive continuous quality improvement by setting up a Quality Improvement Team (QIT) consisting of teams from the Environmental Management System (EMS). Set up a weekly quality meeting to track and monitor progress on continuous improvement activities and CAR at EMS. Collaborate with third party consultants, contractors, and employees to improve processes, plans, procedures, and overall compliance of EMS. Monitor and assess existing and emerging environmental regulations and determine appropriate policies and procedures for regulatory compliance. Develop customer specific quality reports, interface with Radisys teams and customers to report current situation and in some cases, continuous improvement activities. Support test and debug of products as required.

 

Requires domestic and international travel up to 20% of the time.

 

Telecommuting is permitted from any location within normal commuting distance of Radisys’ office in Hillsboro, OR.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  Requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related, plus two (2) years of experience in Quality Engineering, including two (2) years of experience providing support to development, engineering, and manufacturing functions for validation planning and providing ongoing quality engineering support throughout the product life cycle.

 

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Printed circuit board assembly manufacturing process & system integration; 2) New Product Introduction (Design-for-Manufacturability/Design-for-Assembly/ Design-for-Environment/Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis requirements), assembly instructions and bill of materials structure for boards & systems; 3) Product data management, enterprise resource planning tools and Shopfloor systems; 4) Engineering change orders and Deviation processes; 5) Creating 8D reports, 5 why process, and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action); 6) Board or system test processes; 7) ISO audits including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and process maintenance.
